Myanmar Travel Tips

Myanmar stands at the crossroads of Asia’s oldest civilizations, making itself an enigma in the subcontinent. With wild forests, snow clad mountains, exotic beaches and amalgamated culture, Myanmar is the perfect place for any holiday package.

Attractions:

  1. Shan: The 2 million year old Pindya Caves at Shan are a must visit place on travel packages, with its history of having been a place for worship since immemorial times. The Wish-Fulfilling Bamboo Reed Phaya is built in bamboo. The pagoda looks as if it is made in gold when seen from a distance. You could also find astonishing floating villages on the Lake of Inle Phaungdaw Oo. Besides, the lake also is home to many colorful fishes, turtles and birds. The Kakku Relic village is also another major attraction of Shan.
  2. Beaches: Virgin and exotic beaches like those of Maung Magan, Set Se and Jone Jone Kya overlook the Andaman Sea and provide visitors will the ultimate relaxing experience on their vacation packages. The Rakhine Coast on the west has beaches that look on to the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. There are some beautiful resorts on these beaches that could provide for you perfect stay.
  3. Mountains: A trip to the mountains of Kakaborazi can be a pleasurable journey to all tourists. You could also trek Lonkrumadin if you want challenges or Mt. Phonganrazi for fun. Besides, you could also go for white river rafting on the Maykha River in Kachin.

 

Climate: Myanmar has a tropical climate throughout the year though the rains vary widely across the country. The summers last from March to May while it generally rains from June to September. The winter months range from October to February.

Most suitable time for visiting: Myanmar is best to visit on discount vacation packages during October to February. You could however visit the hill stations better if you tour from March to May. Yangoon is very hot and humid during rains but the upcountry does not have much rains.

Landing and taking off: The international airlines drop you and pick you up from the Yangoon airport. Besides, the Myanmar Airways International, Thai International Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Silkair, Indian Airlines and many other serve the Yangoon airport internationally.

Internal Transportation: Myanmar has an extensive network of roads but rides on road are generally very tiresome. Buses and taxies are easily available with our inclusive travel packages. Domestic flight services are available to the major cities.

Communication: The call rates from Myanmar are abnormally high. Mobile phones brought in from other countries cannot avail the GSM networks. Internet access is also limited to a few cafes and hotels.

Currency: Myanmar deals in Kyats. Only Euro traveler’s cheques are accepted. No currency other than US dollars or the Euro is exchanged in the country.

Time: Myanmar time runs 6.30 hours ahead of the GMT schedule.

Heath Information: Though Myanmar does not require any particular set of vaccinations for allowing entry to the country, it is advisable to be vaccinated against hepatitis, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis and tetanus. In case you have regularly prescribed medicines, carry them along because you might not find them there. Since tap water is not potable, boil water before you drink or drink from packaged bottles only.
