Costa Rica is a small country, known for its splendid beaches and exotic natural beauty. The leisure activities like fishing and birding and adventure activities like white water rafting and mountain biking during vacation packages makes it a charismatic tourist destination. Attractions:

  1.   Arenal Volcano: Costa Rica is famous for providing shelter to a number of volcanoes, Arenal Volcano considered as the youngest of the lot. This 3000 years old volcano is also believed to be the most active volcano of the country.   2. Manuel Antonio National Park: Spread over an area of 683 hectares, this park was constructed in the year 1972 and became famous for long trails. The rich variety of animals like sloths, squirrel monkeys and iguanas immediately grab the attention of tourists on holiday packages.

Climate: Costa Rica enjoys tropical as well as sub-tropical types of climate. The seasons are divided into two categories, including dry season (January to May) and rainy season (June to December). The variation of altitude influences the temperature in different regions of the country. The highland regions are warmer than coastal areas.

Most suitable time for visiting: The majority of tourists head towards Costa Rica on discount vacation packages during the dry season months. The Christmas holidays and spring breaks can also be considered as suitable times for visiting this place.

Communication: Communication is offered through out-and-out phone lines and internet cafes. For calling from USA to a Costa Rica landline, you need to prefix 011-506 and 011-506-8 for calling on a cell phone.

Currency: Colon is the first currency in Costa Rica, dollar being at number two. It is the most expensive country of Central America. Nationals of Costa Rica can provide you information about current currency exchange rate. Also, it is good to carry an international credit or debit card with you.

Time: The standard time zone followed in Costa Rica is Standard time zone: UTC/GMT -6 hours.

Heath Information: The travelers departing for Costa Rica are recommended to visit their personal physician before boarding the flights. Vaccines like Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, yellow fever and typhoid are recommended for all travelers.
